Introducing Superoxide Dismutase 3 Enzyme Mist, a third generation product featuring antioxidants new to this formulation, which are important to support the skin’s defence abilities and prevent visible skin damage before it occurs.
It includes 4 new antioxidants including Superoxide Dismutase 3 (SOD3), a novel and newly isolated skincare ingredient in our skincare line that depletes with age but is an essential defensive antioxidant.
Superoxide Dismutases (SODs) are a group of antioxidant enzymes that form the front line of defence against damaging environmental effects. There are 3 types of SOD enzymes that are naturally present within the skin. Scientific literature has demonstrated that as we age, the amount of SOD3 specifically declines; whereas the amount of SOD1 and SOD2 stay the same.
What makes SOD3 so unique is where this ingredient is positioned. Unlike SOD1 and SOD2 antioxidants that sit inside skin cells, SOD3 works between outer skin cells, where it’s better able to defend against collagen loss to help reduce the visible effects of environmental stressors on the skin. With age, as our body’s natural supply of SOD3 diminishes, so too does our skin’s ability to protect itself from external damage. This can lead to visible signs of ageing like fine lines, wrinkles and loss of firmness.
