Skin Stories: Molly Taylor-Rozkalns

Our team at The Ordinary is full of skincare experts and enthusiasts. We wanted to learn more about their skin stories, daily regimens, and tips for targeting their top skin concerns.

Curious to know more, we asked. Now we’re sharing their insider answers with you. Meet Molly Taylor-Rozkalns, Associate Manager on our Customer Happiness team.

This is Molly.

O: Give us a glimpse into your life outside work.

Molly: I love being at home. I don't think there's anything better than getting cozy and reading a book, preferably with your drink of choice. I’m currently in my matcha era. Making my daily matcha in my favourite mug now turns an ordinary day into something a bit more special.

Molly's Skin Story

O: What’s your skin type and main skin concerns?

Molly: My skin type is dry and blemish-prone.

O: Tell us about your relationship with skincare over the years.

Molly: I've always been fascinated by all things skincare, especially since I struggled with my skin when I was younger. Following in my mom’s footsteps, I had the urge to try new products all the time. I feel so lucky to now be able to trial exciting new launches and see what works for me. Through my skincare journey, I’ve realized how important it is to listen to your skin, and that sometimes less is definitely more.

O: How do you adapt your skincare routine for specific concerns or situations?

Molly: I switch up the products I use depending on my skin's current situation. I might apply a few drops of Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 (with Ceramides) if I'm experiencing dryness (especially in the colder months), or Balancing & Clarifying Serum if I'm battling congestion. I also use the new Sulfur 10% Powder-to-Cream Concentrate to treat breakouts.

Molly's Top Picks

O: What’s your favourite formulation at The Ordinary and why?

Molly: The Soothing & Barrier Support Serum. It helps strengthen my skin barrier and soothe any redness or irritation. And it’s pink! As a dry skin sufferer who is prone to irritation, this serum is a lifesaver.

O: What’s a formulation at The Ordinary that deserves more attention?

Molly: Squalane + Amino Acids Lip Balm. It's small but mighty and can sometimes get overlooked as a staple. As someone who doesn't leave the house without a lip balm, this is always my top choice to have in my bag.

Tips & Takeaways

O: What’s a skincare tip you live by?

Molly: I use a clean, reusable flannel or washcloth every day to pat my face dry instead of a towel, which can harbour bacteria. Then I just throw it in the wash.

O: Do you have a clever way you use or combine products from The Ordinary?

Molly: One of my favourites is mixing the Soothing & Barrier Support Serum with Natural Moisturizing Factors + PhytoCeramides and applying a thick layer at night when my skin is feeling super dry.

O: What has been your biggest a-ha moment while working at The Ordinary?

Molly: That everything is a chemical, including humans.
