CAIS3 is the award winning third iteration in NIOD’s CAIS formulation, originating from DECIEM founder, Brandon Truaxe’s unrelenting curiosity, piqued by his search for new and innovative ingredients. Our science team highlighted some of the key moments that initiated the formulation process.

“As we were expanding our network of suppliers for raw materials, we came across one particular supplier who introduced us to very expensive copper peptides,” explains Nafisah Abdalla, Science Communications Manager. “Brandon’s mind was intrigued by the conspicuous aura surrounding the use of this supposedly very expensive raw material. He began to question what products on the market were using copper peptides.”

This led to further exploration into the industry’s approach. “There were barely any [copper peptides], and the ones we did see were colourless. This begged the question —are they using enough of the raw material in the formulation, and why is that level restricted? Was it a matter of cost, safety or both? Our journey to creating CAIS was based on finding answers to those questions.”

The result was the first iteration of Copper Amino Isolate Serum 3 1:1. The 1:1 in this formulation’s name reflects the ratio of its key ingredients, GHK-Cu, also known as copper peptides, and GHK peptide. Together, this unique peptide complex delivers powerful anti-aging properties.

CAIS3’s cutting-edge technology targets visible signs of ageing by reinforcing the components that maintain the skin’s structure and surface integrity. It is proven to show significant improvement in skin tone evenness after 4 and 8 weeks* of use, as well as significant improvement in elasticity after 4 weeks*.

CAIL 1% emerged from Brandon’s vision to redefine the copper peptide range with an innovation that complemented the CAIS series of formulations. CAIL 1% is a patented, copper peptide formulation, featuring a lipophilic (oil-soluble) version of GHK-Cu: Pal-GHK-Cu. NIOD was the first in the industry to solubilise this at a 1% concentration.

CAIL 1% utilises lipophilic pathways, bypassing the skin’s protective barrier for enhanced delivery of the active Copper Peptide ingredient. This method enhances volume via hydration, addressing skin thinning over time for improved structural integrity.

MMHC2 hydrates using a combination of 15 hyaluronic compounds, precursors, and a specialised hyaluronic support technology. DECIEM’s Regulatory Product Stewardship Senior Director, Melissa Wang explains, “When we launched this product, we wanted to highlight the fact that Hyaluronic Acid is so much more than a 'plumping' ingredient, and tie it back to what's naturally occurring within the skin and its versatility.”

This formulation goes beyond topical hydration supplementation by providing immediate soothing relief, and alleviation of discomfort associated with skin irritation. FECC contains 28 active technologies to address signs of visible ageing of the eye contour. Inspired by modern drone delivery mechanics, FECC precisely targets fine superficial under-eye lines, dark circles, puffiness, and textural unevenness.

During the creation process of FECC, Pruvdi Kaka, former Chief Scientific Officer, recalls the initial challenges his team faced when developing this formulation: “The eye area is extremely complicated to manage because genetics and lifestyle are involved in the development of visible signs of ageing.”

This complexity drove the team to take a multifaceted approach. “We wanted to bring multiple technologies into the formula to address all facets that impact the eye area”, Pruvdi added. “That is why there are so many technologies and at such a high percentage in the formula.”

Some of the many technologies in FECC include 10% Matrixyl peptide, which helps restore the appearance of smooth skin by reducing the look of crow’s feet and minimising skin roughness.

FECC also features Dipeptide Diaminobutyroyl Benzylamide Diacetate, which works with the skin’s natural processes to reduce the appearance of wrinkles associated with laughter lines.
